The kind of metric, determining how values are interpreted and aggregated

Values

Value	Description	Deprecated
COUNTER	Monotonically increasing cumulative value (total impressions, error count)
GAUGE	Instantaneous value that can go up or down (temperature, speed, ink level)
RATE	Computed rate of change (pages per minute, waste per hour)
STATUS	Discrete state as a numeric value (0/1 for door open/closed, online/offline)
